Air Travel: Pros and ConsApril 24, 2009 on 10:43 am | In Airline Travel | No CommentsPros and Cons of Air Travel The popularity of air travel has been increasing in the past few decades. One can attribute a number of reasons for this increase in popularity and these are convenience and safety. The following are some of the positive and negative factors involving air travel. Disadvantage: Airplanes Cause Pollution. The major shortcoming of air travel is the pollution caused by it. Airplanes emit greenhouse gases into our atmosphere which contributes to things like global warming. This is considered as a serious drawback by people who are keen to limit the effect of global warming on the universe. Nowadays many airlines are taking necessary actions to reduce the global warming effect by becoming more conscious about the environment. This can include them retrofitting their airplanes with a device called a winglet which improves fuel efficiency. Airlines also spend millions of dollars upgrading their fleets to newer and more efficient aircraft. Disadvantage: High Cost High cost of travel makes many people avoid traveling by air. It is frequently much less expensive to fuel up the car and drive to where you need to go instead of flying. One way of solving the high cost air travel problem is to take advantage of discount Disadvantage: Fear of Flying Many people avoid flying for specific reasons. For anyone that has ever been on a flight that has experienced extreme turbulence or some type of other event it can be rather terrifying. Advantage: Speed of Travel The greatest advantage about air travel is that it is much faster to reach between places as compared to other means of travel; however these places have to be connected by air. While it can take days to drive across the United States, a person can fly the same distance in a number of hours. Since you are saving a number of days by flying you can enjoy longer vacations. Advantage: Easy to Travel Long Distances Air travel also allows us to travel to faraway places that would otherwise be too difficult to travel to. Air travel to practically any destination in the world is possible. In the event of your opting for other modes of transportation you will find the travel time is quite long as compared to flying between these destinations. Advantage: Safety With regards to other forms of travel, air travel is considered to be one of the safest. Every year you will find a lot of fatal accidents occur because of car travel. On the other hand you find that the occurrence of train accidents is also quite common. As regards to air travel related accidents you will find that the frequency of occurrences is relatively minimal. For many people safety is the prime consideration for choosing air travel as compared to other form of transportation. Choosing air travel is a personal decision, based on the factors discussed above along with a multitude factors not discussed here. For most travelers safety, speed of travel and cost are the over riding factors. As long as cost remains affordable air travel will continue to grow in popularity.
Airfare Travel DealsApril 24, 2009 on 10:43 am | In Airline Travel | No CommentsMany frequent flyers appear to be conversing more about airfare deals and getting the best price at the best possible time to travel. Ticket prices seem to vary considerably throughout the World, but it’s possible to fly to various places for much less than the full standard fare, given you’ve done some research and you have the assistance of a travel agent. A key factor in getting a good deal is the ability to be flexible. Your flexibility and willingness to compromise on the day and time of year you travel will almost always get you a cheap seat.Be willing to modify your dates to suit the airlines’ need to save money and you can capitalize and save a little yourself, because they will slot people into empty seats.Be warned that switching the date after you have booked a flight will get you a hefty cancellation penalty by most airlines. A point about being flexible when looking for flights is that if you want to cancel or change your flight without receiving an additional charge, it might be better to pay the regular ticket price. Competition in the world of airlines and airfare deals assures that the frequent flyer usually benefits most. Regular travelers are more likely to benefit from frequent flyer programs initiated by airlines. Airline passengers earn air miles or bonuses whenever they ride with a certain carrier and redeem for free tickets or for some other award. This has caused a problem throughout the airline industry and has succeeded in causing many to form alliances with other airlines; many hotels chains have followed the airlines’ lead. A well-known source for airfare deals is on the internet. Watch out for online sites specializing in the sales of airline tickets at a discount, the business could be totally legitimate, but it is wiser to book flights with more know discount agents. Mostly, the problem is that people fail in verifying a site’s legitimacy until it is too late.Visiting the booking office is the best way to assess the agent’s knowledge, if that’s not possible, make a call, but never expect an email to be the only method of contacting them. Query with as many questions as you can, to learn of any likely snags related to their ticket deals, such as stopovers in unattractive parts of the world. It is also important to make sure you know exactly which airline you are flying with. Airfare deals and options are opening up and increasing daily, with new destination opportunities and more flexible travel tariffs. No doubt, with flexibility on your mind and with careful research of the airlines’ options, you will eventually reach your desired destination with minimal difficulty. Do you enjoy reading this? Hi Joe,
As you know parking at JFK Airport can be very costly. Sometimes up to $20 a day.
There are 2 Hotels near JFK Airport currently offering park sleep fly Packages.

The best deal of the 2 is at
The Ramada JFK Plaza:
$199.00 USD room rate for up to 2 people, 7 days parking or,
$249.00 USD room rate for up to 2 people, 14 days parking.
The only other Airport Hotel offering park sleep fly Packages is:

The Holiday Inn JFK Airport
their prices are not too far from The Ramadas:
$239.00 USD room rate, up to 4 people, 5 days parking
$259.00 USD room rate is for up to 4 people, 10 days parking
Both hotels will charge you $15 a day for extra days,
which is much cheaper than at JFK Airport’s longterm lot.
At least with these prices, you get to stay at the hotel the night before or after your trip.
Say you’re coming in on a late flight and don’t want to drive home until the next morning
you can stay the night after instead of the night before your trip.
Not to mention you get better treatment from these hotels than you would at just the airport parking lot.
I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions, feel free to email me again.
